it's a difficult balance finding the sort of activities that people find both interesting and not too much work.
every time we ask for users to give us something they already have we get a decent amount, but people just don't have the time to create things for small activities.
we think these activities are important because they get people into the mindset of participating, if someone has participated in the past they'll be more likely to participate in future, small activities will turn into big events and become very a important tool into creating buzz around webcomics. not to mention getting webcomics to work with each other helps everyone involved grow audiences.
i think the key is removing the beginning period where no one has taken part so far and no one wants to be first or have some sort of activity that literally takes no effort to take part in.
maybe just a choose your own adventure event, where all people have to do is vote or suggest, but i'd like to include cameos from webcomics in some way. for that sort of thing there needs to be a loose sort of rule for suggestions otherwise suggestions get too specific, i think maybe people suggest story tropes and we either do the most voted trope or subvert it. i think subverting tropes would be more interesting and could offer an exercise in thinking outside the box.
if we did a choose your own adventure i'd need the people in this forum to help brainstorm a little to work out details.
